Which is the most effective hiring platform: Online Job Posting, Graduating Universities, Job Fairs, or Head Hunting? Why?

When you’re searching for quality job candidates, it matters where you look, especially since not every industry finds success using the same methods. We asked hiring experts to weigh in on the platforms that yield the best results for them and here’s what they had to say:

Headhunting for Legal Business

In the legal business, we usually have people walking into our office for work opportunities. Whether it is a position for a paralegal or a senior position, we typically have candidates reaching out to our own people in various positions and inquiring about available opportunities. So when we feel the need to expand our team, all we have to do is reach into these resumes, shortlist the best candidates, and call them in for interviews.

On the rare occasion that we need to reach out to candidates, headhunting proves more beneficial than any other recruitment platform. We know what kind of candidate we want for a specific role and which professionals from the industry would be the best fit. The next step is to reach out to them and negotiate hiring options. Random searching never does offer us the results we need, and the exercise takes up too much time, so for us, it’s either reaching into our collection of resumes or reaching out to professionals working with other firms.

Online Job Posting for Digital Marketing

Since the digital marketing industry lives and breathes in the digital world, it only makes sense to hire online, so in our industry, online job posting works best. When we post a job ad online, either through our website or through specific forums that we know will cater to our recruitment needs best, the move is generally enough to invite a barrage of applicants. Then, depending on our needs and the capabilities of the candidates, we get down to shortlisting the most promising ones. Yet another advantage of online job posting is that we now have access to a rich pool of candidates working remotely. Any other headhunting method would severely restrict our outreach in this regard.

Headhunting for Home Improvement

In our line of work, we look for highly specific skills and experience when hiring, so headhunting is what works best. A home improvement team is a mix of different talents, and when we need an extra pair of hands, we are already aware of what this person will be responsible for. Moreover, since our business works on a location-specific platform, it makes even more sense to hunt down prospective candidates already working in nearby locations. Yet another advantage we often resort to is hiring freelancers or people who are between projects. This is especially helpful when we need extra personnel for a larger-than-usual or urgent project and do not require permanent hires. Either way, headhunting proves to be an ideal hiring platform for us.
